Electric heating
Electric heating is the most popular form of heating in Finland
Electric heating is very well suited for heating residential buildings, regardless of the destination. Its undeniable strength is the low initial investment cost. Absolute benefits include longevity, ease of use and reliability. These are all features that are emphasized in current heating solutions.
Typically, electric heating is chosen for a new development when the house is smaller in size and has good thermal insulation. In this case, the heating costs of the property are low and other forms of heating are unnecessarily expensive in relation to the savings achieved. Electric heating also requires little space, saving valuable building squares. Only domestic hot water heaters are needed for direct heat distribution electric heating houses, and for electric circulating electric heating houses, an electric boiler-water heater combination (eg Jäspi Tehowatti) is really space-saving.
In renovation projects, the advantage of circulating electric heating is its modifiability. An air-to-water heat pump, solar collectors or a fireplace can be easily connected to the system. Such hybrid solutions save on heating costs and are often more cost-effective ways to renovate than replacing an entire system with another system.
Water circulating electric heating: a system of many possibilities
Existing circulating electric heating can easily be supplemented with a solution that utilizes renewable energy. When a heat pump is connected to an old system, the share of electricity in a suitable site and in good conditions on an annual basis can be only 30-40% of the total amount of energy. Solar collectors can also achieve significant savings, especially in domestic hot water heating.
