Solar heating

Solar energy complements the heating system

The utilization of energy from the sun has also increased in recent years in Finland, where the utilization of solar energy is possible from the beginning of February until November. Solar collectors are therefore best suited as a complementary form of energy for heating hot water or charging energy accumulators.

Solar heat is obtained when solar radiation is converted into heat in solar collectors, where an unfrozen heat transfer solution is circulated by means of a pump. The heat of the liquid heated in the collectors is transferred to the heat accumulator via a heat exchanger. The entire solar heating system consists of solar collectors, a accumulator, a pump and control unit and piping. Solar collectors are usually very durable level collectors in the Finnish climate.

The greatest benefit is obtained by connecting solar collectors to the heating system

The main uses for solar heat are domestic water, room and pool heating. An even greater benefit is obtained when solar collectors are also connected to a water circulating heating system. Solar heat can produce well half of the energy needed to produce domestic hot water. If the collectors are connected to a heating system, solar heat can produce up to 25-35% of the heating demand. The solar heating system can be combined with all main forms of heating, it is particularly well suited as an additional heat source alongside the oil heating system (Jäspi Solar Economy). In an electrically heated house, solar water can be used to heat domestic hot water (Jäspi Solar 300).
